About Me
My name is ChinPei Tang - "abbreviated" as CP.
I am currently an Engineering Team Leader at Caterpillar Global Mining Division in Denison TX. I am also a robotics instructor at Art and Technology Institute in Frisco, Texas. I am also an active (life) member of CIE/USA-DFW, where I am currently serving as the VP of Youth Programs, and served as the VP of Public Relations in 2011.
I was born in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. My hometown is in Puchong, Selangor, Malaysia. It is near the capital of the country - Kuala Lumpur.
I attended Chong Hwa Independent High School, Kuala Lumpur, and obtained SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) and UEC (Unified Examination Certificate) respectively in 1997 and 1998. I received my Diploma (associate degree equivalent) in Engineering and Applied Science from Inti College Malaysia in 2000. I then moved to Buffalo, NY, and received the B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering with Mathematics minor in 2002, M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2004, Advanced Graduate Certification in Computational Science in 2006, and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in 2009, all from the State University of New York at Buffalo (SUNY at Buffalo).
During my graduate work at Automation and Robotics and Mechatronics Laboratory (ARM Lab) from 2002 to 2008, I involved closely in the project of "Cooperative Payload Transport by Robot Collectives" with my advisor, Venkat N. Krovi. From 2009 to 2011, I joined Laboratory for Autonomous Robots and Systems (LARS) at Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Texas at Dallas as a (Post-doctoral) Research Associate, working on teleoperation of robot collectives under Mark W. Spong's supervision. I also visited the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Air Vehicle Directorate as a Visiting Researcher from July to September 2010, working on the design of novel flapping wing micro aerial vehicle.
